Heavily budded and quite sunfast for a purple.

I would concur with Mantis' observations. It is great plant for the northern garden.

Considering it had gotten lost amongst a tangle of other plants, it has grown well for me but has not flowered more than a couple buds per year. This spring I moved it into a much more open space receiving plenty of sun. It has already responded with 4 scapes and plenty of buds coming! Looking forward to taking pics this summer.

The first year this has bloomed in my garden, every bloom is beautiful. Holds its color well here too, although this has been a cooler year than normal so far. I wonder how it does when temps are over 90? Nice height & bud count, I'm very happy with this plant.

Mary's Baby has done well here it is increasing and has a good number of buds considering it is about three years in my garden.

I added Mary's Baby in the Fall of 2021. This summer I got a short bloom time, but she has also grown to 5 fans. There was a significant rust issue in the Fall.

MB bloomed from July 12-27, with 7 flowers. The flower is very attractive, a rich dark purple with a little white picotee border. Hope to see a better performance next year

2023 update…Mary's Baby seems to have a pattern of being knocked back by winter but regrows the fans bigger and better. When I first received her from Laura ( TwixnDud), she was at 5 fans. By April, MB was down to 3. By October 2022, MB had regrown back to 5 fans. I April 2023, MB was down to 2 fans but had regrown back to 6 fans this past October. Based on that performance, I would evaluate that MB is a little bit tender here but regrows fast enough that it's not going to wither away.

This summer was a much better show, blooming from July 12-28 with 19 flowers. They are so pretty! I love the depth of color on this one.
