The most beautiful iridescent blue flying insect approached me today, and I couldn't get over what I was seeing. After following him for a second, I noticed he also had blue bioluminescence mid-day! He seemed to glow at will from different parts of his body. I couldn't find anything about this amazing insect on the internet so I was hoping somebody here can shed some light (more light ).

The closest thing I can find to an ID is a Cuckoo Wasp. There are differences in body texture (mine being smoother) and nobody has talked about it's 'glow' ability.

Very pretty! I've only seen cuckoo wasps that are either all teal to green or mostly those colors but with a dark red abdomen. I've never seen one with such a pretty blue. It looks like Chrysis angolensis to me. BugGuide doesn't indicate any other similar looking ones to check also. Says it was likely introduced to North America during WWII, and that it parasitizes mud dauber wasp nests.

Thanks for the confirmation Morgan, perhaps (It seems) I'm the only one that witnessed his bioluminescense, he glowed blue...gorgeous! Although, your dark red abdomen wasp sounds cool too.
