Finally the rain has stopped for a few days, I saw it was the Third wettest June in Alabama history.








With all the rain it was starting to look rather torpical around here .

Wonderful show Dave. Your lilies reminded to to post this one I saw at the Flower Bridge in Lake Lure, NC. I had never seen one like this.

Yes it is. It came in a package of mixed dahlia bulbs that my wife picked up at Walmart. No ID of course.

It is very very pretty! It seems like Dahlias are a little trickier than I initially though. They are truly something of beauty. I had my first two last year (Duet and Firebird) and Duet came back this year (Firebird was in a pot and also a cactus variety, so it may have been too cold). It's doing much better than last year and I got one heck of a photo last year

Here's where we are so far - we're blooming later this year by a couple weeks but based on the healthy-looking bud, I'd say we don't have much longer to go before this beauty pops open!

Formosa lilies starting to bloom now.

Beautiful! I have not seen any of mine in years, they are a deer delicacy and nothing I tried to repel the deer has worked on the Formosa lilies.

The same hard-working plants from opening post are still hard @ work, a month later.


Wax Begonias also continue their most-of-the-year blooming.



Ipomoea quamoclit is new development in the past few weeks.


Sedum 'Ayers Rock' stem cuttings, placed when I bought the mama plant around May or June.



But mostly, the color in my yard is from foliage. Didn't manage to capture any in this pic this morning, but generally, the purple heart/queen (Tradescantia pallida) and Coleus are blooming throughout the landscape, to the delight of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

You know, I could not say, I will have to look. I actually think there are at least two colors. I will have to get out and look and take a few photos.

So embarrassing
I sprayed Monday and must have done a good job because I could find none blooming and none that still looked healthy. But if you want some I will for sure keep you in mind, because I do not care for it in the lawn. I am sure it will return. I do have Vinca if you would like some of that, Red, White, and Purple I think.

TYVM! :+) I find plenty of Portulaca amilis in the lawn, but it refuses to grow on the other side of a border in a flower bed. LOL!

Vinca and Purslane are a staple for color in the hot southern gardens.

Did I just see a hummingbird visit every ornamental purslane bloom? YES! So exciting! Portulaca umbraticola is so awesome in so many ways!

I love leaves like this as much as any flower!
