I received these seeds in a swap labeled pink poppies. I started them in paper towels back in March and finally when it was big enough planted it outside in May. Out of 25 seeds 1 sprouted so I really babied it.

I've only grown California poppies and a very long time ago Oriental Poppies. Both which formed clumps of leaves and had flowers rising on naked stems.

As you can see this poppy has leaves along the stem and is about 3' high with droopy flowers

You need to click the pics to see all of it.

I'm wondering if this is the way its suppose to grow and is it a perennial or annual? And what kind is it?

Apparently some do but I have never gotten them to reseed. Maybe save some seed and try it. I always suspect the doves eat the seed and are now flying around "under the influence". Smiling

I usually get my seed by buying a jar of bread poppy seeds at the grocery and tossing them out in the yard in early spring. The flowers are single and mostly pink but still pretty.

Its illegal to grow Marijuana??

In Nevada, it is legal to buy from the MaryJane store but illegal to grow your own. That's because 'they' can't figure out how to tax your produce. Rolling on the floor laughing

The taxes (at least here) add up to 18% of the purchase price. An ounce goes for $100 to $350. I have heard that the $100 stuff is BAD, but, someone buys it. Look how popular Two Buck Chuck was.

No, I don't... Smiling
