I have finally decided to get rid of some of my roses due to heavy Japanese Beatles infestation. They are primarily attracted to Party Hardy, New Dawn, Morden Centennial and Music Box. I love these roses but I do not want to be picking the bug every morning for 30mins. I was under the impression that they are attracted to the color or the fragrance of the blooms. Right now i am waiting for my second lush of blooms and i still see tons of Beatles on the leaves too. I thought about using milky spores but It's probably not going to help If i am the only one using in the neighborhood. The area where the roses are planted are mostly in full sun all day. My question is, any ideas on what shrubs i should be looking at to grow instead. I want the shrubs to be 4-6 ft and flowering shrubs would be even better. Any suggestions please?
