This plant will be finding its way to my gardens during the first week of August courtesy of Oak Hill Daylillies. It is one of the plants I selected as part of my prize when they offered a $50 gift certificate in one of our Not-A-Raffle Raffle's. I'll have more to report next season...

I can't give much of a report on Orchid Corsage. I only purchased it this summer as a tiny fan for $2. It is going to need lots of time to show any growth. It looks green and healthy so it must be working on root system. It had been on my wish list for a long time and when it was offered I couldn't say no.

It's a good performer here and one of the few daylilies that sometimes reblooms here depending on the season. It has also increased well over the years. One thing that I wonder about is whether it dies back for winter or not in milder zones based on its behaviour here.

I purchased this cultivar this spring, as a small clump, and watched it grow into a lovely planting that started blooming just this last week. It is in a 2 1/2 gallon pot and quite happy. I do plan on putting it in the ground this fall. The FFE was taken during a morning rain and the SFE was on a sunny morning. It's been too hot to even try to set pollen, though I have frozen pollen for use later in the season.

Two scapes, with two way branching, 18 and 16 inches to first bud, both scapes with 11 buds.

I bought Orchid Corsage on the description of others who had it in their garden. Purchased in June this year (2017).
So far it is putting on some buds. I wish the picture was clearer. Taken early this morning (7-23-17).
Looking forward to blooms!

Here in southern NH it's a mid-late season bloomer. Puts on quite a show with lots of buds. The scapes aren't as 'husky' as I prefer and can tend to fall over with too much rain, but it's still a great plant. Quite, vigorous as I have to divide every 2-3 years.

I love Orchid Corsage, it is on top of my list of must have Daylilies. I love the form. I am not a fan of round ruffled type daylilies. The shape of ones like Orchid Corsage are my favorite. I originally got 2 fans in 2010. Mine is in sandy soil that I added a layer of compost to and worked in. It gets sun from about 9 am until about 4:30 pm and performs perfectly. I don't think it has ever flopped over. I don't use a lot of fertilizer. I did put some Flower Tone down in that whole bed once last year but that was the first time since the original amendment of the bed. This year I tried putting down Oscomote. I am really bad about getting fertilizer down at the proper time so I figure this way they would get a slow steady supply. It typically starts blooming the the first week of August here. I have some pictures from last year.

I loved the color and form of Orchid Corsage for several years, but it never really grew well, the scapes were always short, so the flowers were down in the foliage. Last year, we gave up on it and took it out.

I've had it for maybe 12 years now, never divided it. It is a monstrous clump now & is blooming wonderfully this year with all the rain we had. The scapes are always well out of the foliage here, rarely floppy although it has happened occasionally. It is a mid late, but the clump is so large & produces so many blooms, it is often among the last to finish blooming.

Here is 'Orchid Corsage' that Avedon sent to me (I was forewarned about it's behavior), but it has yet to send up it's first scape, it was actually six fans when it arrived and has dwindled down a few. It does get rust here. The plant has been fertilized and watered well but still seems to be really struggling.

Larry, did it die back for the winter? Of all the daylilies I have, this is one I can't imagine having flowers down in the foliage, strange.

I bought a small clump of Orchid Corsage Summer 2016, planted out in September.

Since than it has increased from 7 fans to 13 Thumbs up
I have 7 scapes this year, all well above the foliage at 36 (!) inches
It is al mid-late bloomer here, first flower on 19th of July and it still has a lot of buds Lovey dubby
Size of the flowers is 7-8 inches. I forgot to check the budcount and branching Sad
Will add that info later on.

I really love this daylily and would recommend it to others Thumbs up

OC has been growing here for 4 years so now considered a mature plant. It does increase moderately. It is a late bloomer with a long season--July 29 til Sep 10 here in 2017. There were a lot of scapes each with a bud count of 17 with 4 way branching on average so it certainly puts on a show. The scapes are strong enough to hold up the blooms. It is nice to have this color late in the growing season.

Simonton Bridge sent this plant in October of 2023. It is starting life in my garden with 4 fans. I also noticed a lot of people selling it at the NEDS club sale last June, so I could always supplement it pretty easily, if I decide I need more.
