What kind of Lily is this? in the Plant ID forum - Garden.org

This Lily just appeared in my daughter's yard (northern Virginia, zone 7a); apparently it was planted by the previous homeowner. It has no foliage.

Does anyone recognize it?

Not a Lily, in the sense of Lilium.

Foliage may come after flowering, happens with some bulb plants.

Possibly something in the Amaryllidaceae family but I'm not too familiar with those so just a guess.

Definitely in the Amaryllidaceae family. My guess would be a Lycoris, probably Surprise Lily (Lycoris squamigera).

Belladonna. Surprise "lily". In the amaryllis family, but hardy. Reproduce like crazy.
