I'm wanting to get an iris that is as close to true red as possible. I don't want one that has any brown on it but one that verges more toward purple. Any suggestions?

Do you want a TB or just any bearded regardless of size?

I can think of

And of course there is Tom's World Famous Red NoID! Hurray!

If you do a 'Search by characteristics' in the Iris database, you can select 'red' and see a lot more.

Lest We Forget is a pretty red, and a good grower.

Dynamite is an older one that is also a good reliable red.

Grateful Red is gorgeous but does bloom every year for me.

Red Velvet Cake is very red.

And I agree about Spartan. It is bright red in full sun and really stood out in the garden this spring.

These are so beautiful. I'll have to give some of them a try. I already purchased Dynamite this year so I'm looking forward to seeing it next year.

These are just what I'm looking for. I usually get Tall Beardeds. How do I find Tom's Red NoID?

'Lest We Forgot' looked a little orange-y to me, when it bloomed (first year) in my garden this year.

'Ida Red' (also new to me) looked very burgundy, but it has an older form. (Sorry for the ratty bloom.)
