Hey!

Yellow spots on my Calathea (I think it's a calathea?!) I can't seem to find other examples of.
- Flat is generally around 22-25 Celsius
- Recently got a watering spike to try and make sure it gets enough water
- moved it away from sunlight
- London water so quite hard if that makes a difference
- Not that great at fertilizing but do it about once a month.
- Also try and spray it to try and keep humidity up (I know not ideal, flat is v dry).

Any help is really appreciated. :D

It is hard to associate the brown spots with any one cause. I also see a lot of yellowish discoloration over the surface of the leaves. That could be a result of misting with hard water as the minerals in the water dry on the leaves. If so, it can be wiped clean. Low humidity is not a problem with Calathea, so I don't recommend spraying it with hard water.

It is hard to tell from the photos, but the leaf surface discoloration could also be spider mite damage. Check carefully on the undersides of the leaves for spider mites.

The temperature of your flat is not a problem. Calatheas prefer lots of very bright but indirect sun. If it is not over-potted, it should be watered as soon as the top surface of the soil is dry.I don't recommend water spikes because they keep the soil too wet in many instances. If you fertilize, do it only at half strength when the plant is healthy and growing vigorously; it is not medicine.
