It hasn't produced any flowers or berries so far this year. Growing underneath my berry tree. Is it a shrub?

Has it produced flowers and berries before? If so did the flowers look anything like this?

I only found out about it's presence at spring time. No flowers have bloomed yet, but could be because my berry tree is stopping it from getting full sunlight. When do the flowers usually bloom?

It flowers late winter-spring there. We grew it in the south of England, I'm not sure how well it performs in the north east. Maybe someone will recognize it from the leaves but otherwise you may need to post another picture when it flowers.

Thanks for your help. If any changes happen to it within this year's winter, I'll send a new picture with the blossom.
