Strong growing, intense, earlier yellow here. One of the finest yellows in the garden imho.

Omomuki is one of the oldest plants in my garden. It came here in 1998---only seven years after it's intro. The price had come down to $10.00/DF because it is a strong grower that multiplies it's fans exponentially. It is still here---and will be here for a long time. It's only flaw is that the flowers always have that crape texture that has since been bred out of the daylilies because of increased substance. I still use it for breeding because it does not pass on that trait---and it is a fairly reliable seed-maker.

Seems like only time I like the crepe texture is with a lemon yellow, probably because yellows tend to be the best openers and the most sun-resistant. Many of the Munson cream-pinks and melon-toned flowers had it, but coming off a cool night they were thin, rumpled, sad-looking flowers. I think it adds interest to the petal surface, but usually at a price. Imperial Lemon and Lion Dance have that texture and finish, but have the substance to pull it off. They're two of the old-guard "pure lemon yellows" which I still grow.

First season here so I can't speak to how well it increases yet. Not a large number of blooms but they're so beautiful I don't mind the low count. Hopefully it will be more prolific in the future. Not a tall flower.

Omomuki was planted in August 2020 in my Upper Bed by the house. But now that I have it, I've identified a plant that I bought from Seawright in the late 2,000s. All I remember was being told that it was a fantastic Garden plant and I should have it. The Seawrights kept up on all the Stamiles, I bought a lot of those from them. Omomuki is a strong plant, it made a great show this summer, blooming from July 5th ( my birthday) to August 4th, which makes it a true Midseason plant here.

I love the form and the happy color, I like the texture and the strong looking scapes and buds. They were right, it is a great Garden plant.

Omomuki had a hard year this summer. It was completely overgrown by Phlox. It had a relatively short bloom from July14 - 26, with only 26 flowers which is nothing compared to the waterfalls of bloom I've had in previous years. This September, I cleared out the Phlox and replanted the Omomuki fans. Hopefully next season will be back to normal.

2023 update blooming from July 14-27, I counted 17 flowers this year. Better than last year but still not as good as it used to be.

Hey, @Zoia, I wonder if your plant needs to be moved or divided. I have Omomuki, too, but I haven't written a review yet because I keep thinking the plant is going to do better the next season. I moved it once already and am thinking about moving it again. Becky, this is not an actual review, more of a comment. I promise to write one next year.
