I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database! Plant Identifier
that is not a walking stick, but a preying mantis I have them in my garden, I get a batch of babies every summer on my mint plants. Mine start out green and turn brownish later on in the season. They are neat to watch. Thumbs up

You're correct it is a preying mantis. Thanks for letting me know. I was surprised to see it on the tire as had just driven the truck. She was happy to jump off when offered a potted plant.
