that is not a walking stick, but a preying mantis I have them in my garden, I get a batch of babies every summer on my mint plants. Mine start out green and turn brownish later on in the season. They are neat to watch.
You're correct it is a preying mantis. Thanks for letting me know. I was surprised to see it on the tire as had just driven the truck. She was happy to jump off when offered a potted plant.
