Today's plant of the day for Sempervivum is Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum calcareum 'Pink Pearl').

This is my favorite calcareum. It is a good producer of offsets, and has such a wonderful flush of pink in the spring.
This plant can be found in our Plant Database at:
Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum calcareum 'Pink Pearl') .

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more!

Also, please consider adding a Plant Performance Report to the database! Thank you!

Melissa you will love it.

Patty, yours certainly did get pink. Even in the other months there is a flush of pink at the base of the leaves.

Here's my late October 'Pink Pearl'. I got these from Patty (thanks Patty) this summer as small offsets. They have grown quite well. I'm hoping they will grow upright and make that cool tea-cup shape that I occasionally see in Calcareums.

And here is a photo taken today, Oct. 30, 2017, of my 'Pink Pearl'. As you can see in the photo she is putting out a second crop of offsets for 2017.
This one doesn't seem to be interested in producing offsets until later in the season.
