I live in Zone 7a and planted 4 varieties of Asian Radishes for the first time this fall. Formosa Giant Luo Buo, Chinese White Winter Radish, Japanese Minowase Daikon, and Sakurajimo Giant. Two of our raised beds were empty in late September so I dug out the Bermuda grass to loosen it up and added compost before sewing seeds. I watered the beds thoroughly. All of the seeds sprouted within 3-4 days. Nighttime temperatures were dropping by October so I spread a light covering of pine needles over the young radishes. We've had frequent rains so I didn't water the beds after early October. By Thanksgiving the radishes have several small leaves but I haven't noticed much more growth. We've had some freezing temperatures at night during the past week. I did water the young radish plants well the day after Thanksgiving. Am I expecting too much? Did I plant the seeds too late in the fall?
