Bob,
Any idea how long they last? I use the Ptouch on metal markers with the UV tape. Thx

I have never used them outside, so I'm not sure how UV will affect them.

Here is a comment I found when I looked up the tape I used

Love this product. It is a little cheaper through Amazon but not much. Costco now carries it at about the same price with no shipping. I use it for marking plants on metal stakes. It hasn't peeled or faded in about 5 years so far.

For those of us who are on a limited or fixed income, how much would that Brother P-Touch cost???

@greene. I have one I can send you. My Brother recently passed. He was living with me, as we unfortunately knew he did not have long. He brought this label maker for some reason. I can certainly send it to you, after I check to be sure it's got all the parts.

Gardner Bob, what a wonderful idea! Even if we don't have the label maker, using the cups like that is ingenious!

@lauriebasler, so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you posted it here--it's always heartwarming to see someone being generous. A good time of year for it too. Group hug

Just an additional thought for those of us who love to reuse before recycling: Plastic cups or containers can be saved after use and cut to use as Gardner Bob has shown! Old plant pots can be reused this way too!

I'm so jazzed by your idea GB! Can't wait to try it out once the snow melts! Thumbs up

Ok, Miss greene: @greene I have sent the brother p-touch label maker today. Sorry about the delay. I was delayed as the charger was not with the machine, and so I went on a hunt thru my brothers things, but to no avail. I really wanted you to have that, so that has been disappointing. But the label maker works great on batteries, but it takes 6. I bought some brand new ones so you have a nice fresh start. You will find 3 tape cartridges too, which will go a long long way.

We have had little experiences with electronics turning on all by themselves here since Mickey passed, so if this thing turns on on its own, it's just him. Angel

I will tree mail the tracking number.

I hope at least some of the plants that need labeling have escaped the freeze you are having. Take care and say hi to the dogs for me.

Laurie B.

Hurray!
Thank you LaurieB, it is much appreciated. I will keep Mickey's memory alive by using the label maker. I am pretty sure I can eventually find a compatible charger, but in the meantime, the batteries will do the trick. Thank You!

This is what I have been using to create labels; it's a slow process and very hard to read the finished labels.

Don't be surprised if someday soon the mail carrier brings a package to you in return.
