Hi Everyone
I thought I would start a thread about reports of seeing honey bee plants coming up, blooming or being visited by the bees.
Here at my house crocus is poking their little green heads above the soil .

What's showing up in your area?

I don't have anything yet but my hellebores should be coming along pretty soon.

Something is blooming in my area. The foraging bees have been out in force and bringing in both red and yellow pollen. The red pollen is from what we call wild verbena and covers the row crop fields in the winter. I don't have a clue where the yellow pollen comes from.

I also have bees bringing in pollen by the truck load. I have no idea where its coming from. My daughter and i walk the woods yesterday to see what was blooming and we found nothing.

Check this article out for a list of plants that may be providing the pollen.

You are welcome Heath.
There are other articles for other months as well
I'm hoping to do more articles on other plants for honeybees once life settles down a bit more for me.

So sorry to hear about your friend's hive
Ours are probably busy or that the weather is warming up and we are getting some sunny days here and there. It's rained so much here lately that the ground is soggy to walk on so I haven' tried walking down to the hive area to see what they are doing.
My husband tends to check on them but not say much about them unless there's a problem or they are especially busy bringing in pollen and nectar. He's the quite type. I tend to focus more on making sure they have a variety of plants to forage.

Ya.. I hate that they died because i was the one that set hem up with all the equipment he just had to buy the bees. And i managed them all summer. Oh well though that's what happens when you have bees you lose some and you win something.
