This rose was planted in 1996, and I've really enjoyed its blooms this year.
(In fact, I've enjoyed all our plants much more since joining NGA last July)

I don't know its name....I know it's not Double Delight, which we also have.

Though the stems are weak, and the blooms droop, each bloom seems to last at least a week,
and are especially eye-catching when backlit by the sun.

My first impression upon watching the slide show is that the rose is Peace.

But there are other possibilities. In an effort to find a large portion of the roses one might consider before narrowing the field, I did a search at HMF. There are more possibilities than this; but (if the rose is not Peace or Double Delight) I think there might be a good chance that the rose is among these choices...

Possible: Love and Peace, Centennial Star, Pink Paradise, Lady Mavis Pilkington aka KORlitse (just finding this rose at HMF made my search for candidates worthwhile...)

Unlikely: Augusta Louise, Bella Roma, Belle Epoque, Comtesse Vandal, Emily(Guillot), Faberge, Mullem, My Choice, Oriental Dawn, Party Time, Solitaire, Tarantella (only listed here so I can remember it..)

I think it's "Love & Peace" .....at least that's what it looks like, and what I'll call it for now.
Not as fragrant as I'd like, but very beautiful......it glows.

Thanks, Cal. I've only ever seen Love and Peace once, almost 20 years ago and it did not look nearly so good.

Is it a salvia or a penstemon in your avatar? It's a lovely shade of blue, and hard to get enough of in the garden.

Thanks Steve.....the avatar is a volunteer blue salvia......no clue where it came from, but it's easy to propagate as
it grows through the soil. Want some?

I wish pretty things like that wold pop up in my garden! - but I would probably assume it was undesirable and yank it out.

I'm not familiar with being able to use something called 'EMF' as a tool for searching for Roses. Could you tell me what it stands for, please? I'm assuming it is a Website? Thank you so much.

And Cal, thank you for asking the question. I too have a pink and yellow rose which has no ID, so maybe I can get some answers. I've had Double Delight for 25 years, and just looked through 120 photos of them - they are so photogenic, and have so many different appearances. I had the Peace rose too, but not a rose that liked to hang upside down like yours.
By the way, I also like your Blue Salvia avatar - such a piercing blue that shoots straight to the heart.

I love Double Delight for its fragrance and colors, too.
Also Gertrude Jekyll, Abraham Darby, and Intrigue for fragrance as well as color & form.

I have a membership at HelpMeFind which allows for quite sophisticated searches. It's a powerful tool, but it can take some patience. HMF, even without the membership, is a great place to look for photos of roses and peonies. Sorry for duplicating information that Amanda has already mentioned, but I do go there very frequently.

@EscondidoCal I would be happy for some blue salvia, if you had extra. I'm a great fan of salvias because they are one of the few kinds of plants that survive the low water/hungry critter pressures here.

It took me to that page, where, at the bottom, where Landscape photos are, was a Photo of her Graham Thomas Rose with a blue Salvia called Blue Anise Sage (Salvia coerulea 'Costa Rica Blue').

That is a lovely photo. And I find it useful to have a name attached to the salvia. My own GT has never had blossoms quite that pale in color, but it really is the perfect yellow for the salvia.

While I cannot justify the drooping bloom, it may well be either "Glowing Peace" or "Chicago Peace", both widely sold throughout the USA and Canada. It looks a little too "fluorescent" to be "Peace". Anyway, pretty rose!!

A picture of my "Glowing Peace". The rose "Love and Peace" is a relatively newly (Canadian) introduced rose, and was not around twenty years ago.

Very nice combo. Could be the same salvia, though thought I've seen others that look the same. Mine is only ~2ftx2ft......but doesn't get a lot of light under the trees where it is......gets just morning light.

The stem is too thin for the size of the bloom, so it droops, but still keeps blooming as long as the stem doesn't break.
It gets the fluorescence from the way it hangs.and the transmitted light vs direct light or diffuse light. The pic really doesn't do it justice.
I have pics of Double Delight that glow, too.

Intrigue is amazing.....not only a great fragrance, but will produce 2 doz blooms on one stalk!
And it's very disease resistant. Nice glossy green leaves.
It was my Mom's favorite.

I'll check out Fragrant Cloud if I get a vacancy in the garden. No room for now.

I am not a rose expert by any means. The description you have provided, to me, suggests an older tea rose. The weak stems especially as this is a characteristic common to most of them. What is the plant habit like? Do you have any pictures of the bush? Take a look at Rosette Delizy. This is a very similar rose. If still not convinced search the tea roses. I believe you will find it either there or maybe a floribunda rather than a hybrid tea. Good luck with your search!
