For me it is almost time to start my tomato and pepper seeds under lights.

So glad for a new thread--thanks, Rita. I'm about 3 weeks away from starting tomatoes and peppers. I do have rosemary already into 2" pots (I know--not a vegetable ) I'm just glad to be growing again.

I spent the past weekend getting my basement growing area ready for the season. Everything is cleaned, organized, light bulbs checked, etc. While cleaning pots last weekend, my utility sink started leaking like mad--thankfully my husband was able to isolate the problem and fix it without calling a plumber I'd be lost without my sink in the basement--lugging gallons of water from upstairs is just not fun (ask me how I know this).

My seed lists have been finalized for both my garden, and our Master Gardener plant sale. I'm waiting on just a few more packets of seeds, and then I'm ready to go!!

All I have right now is a healthy Patio tomato with blossoms, an aloe and strawberries. I'm happy to see this new thread!

Just herbs here too.
Genovese Basil, Lovage, Chervil amd Greek Oregano.
Rosemary barely sprouting. And trying for Culantro, but it does not seem to want to sprout.

I didn't buy new to me tomato seeds so will be growing what I have. Which is more than plenty. But after I planted the peppers out last spring and they started to grow I got crazy over peppers so I ordered lots of new to me pepper seeds. So I have many (too many) to choose from.

Pepper seeds germinating for a week and today tomato seeds hit the dirt (soilless mix). And so it begins again.

So I am late to the party. I was literally just thinking yesterday, " @newyorkrita should start a new thread. ". Temps in the low 40s has me thinking about seeds and dirt. Despite the foot of snow we recently got.

I am doubling up on Planet Sweet Peppers and SMR tomatoes. I want to get better at having greens all summer. I have an area going down to a ditch that fills up in the spring and big rain events. I cleared it out and scattered a bunch of seeds to see what happens. Old Tomatoes from last year, squash, calendula, radish, lettuce, kale, peppers. I will intentionally plant some tomato plants there along with some peppers. It will be interesting to see what comes from it. May the best prosper.

I am trying candy cane peppers. Malaga carrots from baker creek also. A new tomato and pepper as well. More details later. Summer dance and diva cukes will going in. Honey baby squash exclusively for winter squash.

I am giving my 7 year old son a 4x8 raised bed to play around in. He wants to grow stuff to make vitamins :). Chard, tomatoes, summer squash, cukes.

Reid, it all sounds very good.

Newyorkrita: I am certain you know your zone/area way better than I do. But with all due respect, do you think you are starting your indoor plantings-toms and peppers, a little early, (or more importantly, am I starting a little late-LOL") I can't plant toms or peppers outside here until late May, early June. I almost always start same inside too soon and wind up with leggy" plants, which usually are so thin they break off, during the "hardening off process". We are in the same boat, just interested in sharing growing info. Cheers!

I have started my plants 1st of March these past two years. They go outside in the ground near the end of April. I could start them sightly later but I am always impatient to start. And I want to have decent plants to set out later April which is when I start to plant.

I always put out my tomatoes first. Peppers go in slightly later.

I also plant cucumbers, eggplants and summer squash.

All 8 of my Pak Choy have sprouted and 3 broccoli and 1 cabbage also. Redesigned my garden area also, added 2 more elevated beds. Going to move the corn and potatoes outside the elevated beds area on a deck.

That is two things I have never ever grown, corn and potatoes. I do grow a lot other veggies.

I have watched at least 50 Pinterest and you tube videos on growing potatoes. Looks fairly simple

We grew corn one year. The worms were ferocious. Good crop, but we didn't care to have to clear out all the worms.

Potatoes aren't worth the hassle here. The clay soil combined with the vole population are real problems for us.

I've never really understood the cover potatoes thing. If you cover leaves how do they get sun? How do you know when to cover and all that? (But I don't want to hijack this great thread!)

I have peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant in the light box. We are in zone 7A, but even so these plants won't go out until May-ish. I geekily started a calendar this year to keep track of all manner of things, like fertilizing and starting plants. I use covers until things get warm.

I am a city girl with a garden patch-so I don't get access to my spot until the middle of March. I just realized I have spending all my discretionary funding on garden supplies. This is normal, right?

We all spend plenty on our Gardens. I can't wait for it to be Spring!~!!
