Any idea? My brother sent this to me and did not say where it was taken

I thought a cherry or pear ..the pears almost always break here and so not used to seeing them so thick..I notice there is lichen on the twisting trunk don't see that here either. No way to get close up or ask him about fragrance or where today. I know he was recently in New Mexico

It's difficult to see the blossom properly.
It could be Prunus x subhitella 'Autumnalis', a variety of ornamental cherry which flowers throughout the Winter months.

Thanks I thought it was a cherry too..but not really familiar with the spring ornamentals ..without even knowing WHERE or when and no flower close up ...... I suspect he passed in a car and snapped it .. Like I said he was recently in N Mexico .. he lives in Fort Lauderdale and I know it was not there! Thanks

Those are undoubtedly Callery Pear selections - Pyrus calleryana - of which Bradford Pear is one.

If your brother can't tell you where they may have been taken, it ain't up to us to figure that out. I will say: photos always have date or time tag, so anyone should be able to say where they were (approximately) on any certain day.

If his flight path was from New Mexico to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he likely was following I-10 or a similar route across the southern tier of states, and species like Pyrus calleryana would have been behaving similarly all along that route.

I didnt say he couldnt tell me, I said I received the photo this morning and I would not be able to reach him today. I knew he had been in N.Mexico last week and thought he may have seen those there.

I thought perhaps pear, but ours never get that big before breaking so I thought perhaps not ..likely cherry, thanks for weighing in.
