'Heavenly Flight of Angels' arrived instead of a daylily that I had ordered ... labeled as the plant I ordered. We all know the nurseries do the best they can, but sometimes things just 'happen.'
I waited two years for it to bloom... and when it did, it was 'nothing' like what I had ordered.
(Well, they were both daylilies.) But, no matter how many times they ship you a 'wrong' plant... sooner or later, the mistake is going to be in your favour!
Fortunately, this one is so distinctive, it cannot be mistaken for anything else. The blooms are mid to later summer for me (in zone 3), but they are 'big' ... The stats put the blooms at 7-inches, but I would definitely say even larger. (Looking at the hydrangea blooming behind it, that's Incrediball... with blooms easily 12-inches, so this is not a small daylily bloom.)
They are a lovely yellow-green as it bleeds out of the green throat but yellow at the tips and boast a lovely white edge. This is a gorgeous spider, loaded with buds and blooms beautifully. Did I mention it's also fragrant?
It thrives in my gardens - has multiplied very well, pest, rust and disease-free. What a beautiful mistake!
