Should coffee grounds (to be added to the garden soil in the spring) be stored in an airtight container or left to dry out?

chal - in my experience, used coffee grounds can get moldy if stored in an airtight container. For me, it's easier to sprinkle them if they're more dry.

What ever works for you.
I used to store them in containers, but now just dig a hole in the garden in the fall and dump them there all winter with other kitchen scraps.
When I stored them I would divvy them up as I planted potatoes.

I add coffee grounds to my compost all year round!

I don't dry them, but store them until a little container is full and then dump them in situ like RpR, or over the beds where the potatoes will be planted or in the compost. It does get moldy sometimes, but I drink so much coffee the container fills up fast and out it goes. I even open up any K-cups and scoop them out...then use some of those empty pods to plant seeds in. The little hole in the bottom worked great to add a small wick and make self-watering seed starters.

YES, use them also.
I even sometimes throw paper towels/tissues I use in the temp. 2 pound coffee can I put them in till I dump them outside every week.
I have put orange/lemon peels in there also, smells good when you pop the lid for more grounds.
