Can anyone figure out what this is from these photos? I don't remember planting it. You can tell the size by the violets next to it and the over-arching daylily leaves.
That was my first thought, but I just don't remember getting one (and I generally would kill for one!). And the leaves look a bit more fragile than I'm used to for trillium. The flower is also more cupped than I would have expected. But, boy, I sure hope so! More comments, please...
I agree with Trillium (likely T. grandiflora but I won't swear to it at this hour. ) It looks like something bit the tip of it off when it was first emerging from dormancy (before it unfurled). That's why it looks a little different.
