First swarm of the season was caught here yesterday.
2 more hives left to swarm
Made it through winter without any losses this time so the season has started off good

That's awesome you made it thought the winter :hurray:. I lost 1 of my 2 hives and on the first inspection i rolled the queen in my only hive . So yesterday i had 10 queen cells. So i made a split. I put 4 of the queen cells in a nuc and kept the rest in the hive. Crossing Fingers! we will have good wether for mateing flight.

I also have 14 swarm traps hung

The swarm has settled in nicely after doing a through house cleaning.
No new swarms yet due to 5 rainy days but it's turning sunny now so maybe this weekend.

Hope you fill all of those swarm traps Heath
I think hubby is just aiming to fill the rest of the empty hives back up so 6 more swarms and he will be back to where he was.
I'm working on more plants for them to forage around the farm since I have to thin out some of their favorites.

Swarm season is about to being here. Our bees tend to swarm when the blackberries begging to bloom abundantly.
What is blooming when they swarm in your area?

Are bees have been swarming for about 4 weeks now and I have done pretty good on catching some this year. I've caught five swarms. three of them in one man's yard two of them in my yard. I put out 20 swarm traps out this year and right now three of them have bees in them. Here are some pictures

Great job Heath. What is starting or already blooming when your swarms happen?
We had another swarm yesterday. And may have a third one today.
Ours are from our hives and i think if there is a third one that will be all he tries to catch.

That's OK Heath. The only reason i know what seems to trigger swarming so cause in my area the blackberries blooming signals the last of the really cold weather for us.
So far my husband has caught 9 swarms. The second swarms hav already started and they are almost as large as the first swarms.

Bees in a swarm aren't dangerous unless you threaten the queen. For myself, I'm not sure I could handle the tickling of that many bees crawling on my skin.
