Today was the day, and fortunately the rain cleared away overnight.

There were a lot of rows not marked, but on maps to which we had no access. Still, there was beauty all around. It is easy to become overwhelmed by all this beauty.




This is only a small sample as there are acres of irises.

I'd love to visit there....Mary is an amazing lady !....with some amazing irises, too !

Arlyn ~ @crowrita She is a wonderful person and a very hard-working woman! I feel lucky to live in the same county. However we are at different elevations so her bloom time is ahead of mine by about two weeks.

If you ever travel in this area around Mother's Day, you and your wife are invited to stay in our guest apartment over the garage if you like. If not, we can meet at a nearby restaurant and then go iris-looking!

I've got to wonder, though, how on earth she can tell one iris from another (come digging time), as close as they seem to be packed!

I have gotten irises from Mary several times and she always seems to manage to get the right one to me. She knows her iris fields.

If for some reason, she is not sure about an iris, she won't send it out.

She does have maps, and possibly more tags are added as they begin to bloom. I saw in one area, where she had the label crossed out, and I can guarantee that the irises in that section will not be shipped to anyone until that iris is identified properly. She is very mindful of identifying the irises properly. I have never heard of anyone say that they got a different iris than what they ordered.

That being said, she would notify you immediately if she ever discovered an error.
