ive got 2 salix flamingo trees and i was told i dont necessarily need to prune them every year to come back and if i didnt they would get wilder and bushier every year. one has come back bigger and better but the other has only come back on 4 branches & the rest of them are still bare and brown, it has been like this for atleast 4 weeks now where as the other ones twigs turned a redish colour and started budding again. how do i get it to flurish or is it dead?

Trim the dead stuff off, then trim both to desired shape. 👍👍

but it is all dead apart from what you can see on the 4 branches? so does that mean my salix tree wont get any more new buds & leaves?

Hi Jade :
But upon enlarging picture, I'm seeing a different view of possible problem.
It could be a late bloomer.
It's not all dead. I see many, several branches that have buds. Do a scratch test on them. Scratch bark, and see if there green. If green, there alive.

The disturbing part is, the leafs look deformed. Like tree got sprayed with a weed killer, or some kind of chemical, or got to much fertilizer, or some kind of chemical got dumped in ground under tree.
It could of even been from, over spray from something neighbor had sprayed, or something that got dumped on other side of fence.

Give tree a deep watering, that will help leech any chemicals/salts down out of roots.

Best of luck 👍👍

Hiya, I am new to gardening and bought 2x Salix standards. They seem to have been damaged in the wind and are now broken but still growing leaves. The broken one seems to be growing well but the other is very droopy. Any advice? They were planted at the beginning of July.

Picture of plant before planted.
