You can have good tomatoes any time of year. Without a lot of effort. It's not magic or rocket science, but it does take a week.

Give your tomatoes a hot water bath to improve texture and flavor.

Pick out a weeks worth of tomatoes from the local supermarket, run a pot of tap water 125 degrees F. Put the tomatoes in the pot with a saucer on top to hold them down. After 5 minutes place them on a towel to air dry. Allow to ripen for 7 days on the counter (don't refrigerate).

Select tomatoes which are pinking and unblemished for best results.

This Variety is called "Product of Mexico" and was on sale this week for 64 cents per pound.
