Anyone have this rose? ... I purchased it not long ago and planted it in a pot. It did bloom but i was so busy admiring it I forgot to take pictures of the bloom . Trimmed it up a tiny bit and now it has a lot of new growth. I had it in a partial sunny location where it could get the noon to evening sun but it did not like it . So now it is relocated and get the morning sun and is shaded in the afternoon. It is happy now.

the info I found on this rose is its a Weeks rose introduced in 2017 Hybridized by Pierre Orard
Do you have this one in your data base yet? Oh found it..... I will have pics of the next blooms!.

I have two of them. The first one I bought came from Rosemania in one of their bad years, when all of their bare-root roses looked skimpy. It survived, but it's weak, so I bought a second one locally and planted it nearby. If the first one dies, it'll be okay because the second one looks much stronger. If they both survive, they can merge and put on a good show.

I bought one from a nursery and loved it so much that I bought several more in body bags. They made it through winter with very little die back, and our temps went to -10° this past winter! Even the puny body bag ones survived, which is saying a lot! None are planted in a particularly protected part of the garden, either.
I love the unique color combination on this one. I will be sure to post pics when it starts blooming, which should be soon.

Hi....I bought 2 bagged roses from wal mart labeled climbing new year (yellowish orange picture).....but both of them bloomed this, I had previously seen tropical lightening while looking around at newer releases and loved it, so these blooms were a happy mistake but I would love to know if it was tropical lightening or not, they are planted where I really need a climber to be and I dont know if these are climbers or not, in 2 years the tallest canes have been 4-5 ft.
I can get another photo of the canes/foliage if that would help?

It's definitely Tropical Lightning. The rose is a climber and probably will climb to 8-10 feet next year. My two Tropical Lightnings stayed at about 5 feet for a year or two and then started stretching upward.

I've been trying to get hold of a tropical lightening with no luck. The only place I've found them is asking $60 which seems a bit much.

Should I get a graft or own root? I'm aiming for height. The goal is to train it up a downspout trellis. Never grown a climber before so I'm nervous. Salita on one corner of my house and Tropical lightening on the other. What happens when the plant runs out of trellis? And once it's too tall to tinker with?

I finally got my Tropical Lightening! I ordered from Northland Rosarium and had to wait for my Purple Heart to be ready (since shilling is the same for 1 or 2 roses). TL is the first rose I fell in love with. Can't wait to get it in the ground! Less eager to dig that enormous hole in my heavy clay soil 😜

Wait til it rains so the soil is softer. I've heard of people going outside while it was raining to dig their holes because they didn't want to fight the clay so much. I have clay and alot of trees so I usually have to fight roots here.
