Please help me identify the name of the rose that is now a Rose Tree. Are all Rose Trees called Standard?

I don't know much at all about Roses but I thought a "Tree" Rose was just the manner in which certain types of Roses are pruned and trained into a tree-like form.

Yes, standards and tree roses are the same thing. They usually consist of three different roses, one providing the root stock, another producing the tall straight cane serving as the "trunk," and another producing the visible blooms. Sometimes more than one rose is grafted (or budded) to the top of the "trunk." I've seen interesting combinations of Iceberg, Burgundy Iceberg, and Brilliant Pink Iceberg, for example.

I would like to have the name of the rose that they made into a tree on the picture. It has a beautiful fragrance and is a deep color ..I have never seen one like it.

I have no clue about identifying roses and there may be many that are sold in tree form.

What size is the tree rose in the picture, JB? If it's a small tree rose, it could have a mini-rose at the top, something like Diamond Eyes.



If the "trunk" of the tree rose is at least 3 feet tall and the blooms and leaves are of average size, however, it could be Burgundy Iceberg. The colors in the photos Lin chose are somewhat deceptive. These photos are more representative of the bloom color.

Thank you so much for your help. The flowers are more the size of a tea rose and since it was grown in a field at the nursery that gave it to my daughter, and went through weeks of rain and hail, I am not sure about the original color. The trunk is maybe 2 feet tall. I will try and get a close up picture of one of the blooms today before it storms. This was a busy week here at the Christmas Tree farm trying to catch up with mowing the fields and spraying between rains and winds. I will post later or tomorrow. Thanks. I am thinking it is the Rose Burgundy Iceburg. Just not sure.

Burgundy Iceberg is a floribunda with dark anthers. Floribundas usually are grafted onto a trunk that's 3 or 4 feet tall, and the anthers in your photos are distinctly yellow. Standards with a trunk that's from 1 foot to 2 feet tall usually are used for mini-roses. Diamond Eyes is a mini-rose with yellow anthers, so it's a better match for the rose in your photo.
