Hi!
I'm new to this site, and your beautiful pics of gardenias planted on a tree trunk caught my attention. We have a tree in front of our house, that we must get rid of it, soon, as hurricane season approaches. I had mentioned my husband about the possibility of hollowing the trunk and plant different colors geraniums. I'd like to know if that's exactly what you did. Also, how deep did you grind the trunk. I will appreciate any good info as to make my gardenias as showy and beautiful as your petunias. Thanks in advance ....so much.

Actually...that is not what I did here. I had to remove a large 'widow maker' (a large tree limb/tree top that has broken off and is caught up in other branches, just waiting for the right wind to blow) from a customers property. The tree that had broken was completely rotted out all the way down the center but still had lots of good wood and bark around the outside. After removing it from it's perch I simply cut them into sections that could be used as planters.
