I've read that one should only use nonchlorinated water for a tank Bromeliad. I have a water dechlorinator with nutrients I use in my fresh water fish tanks. Any opinions on whether this would be a good or bad idea to add to my watering can?

I don't see why not. It's safe for fish and water plants. I would wait for more answers though.

That should work fine, or you can just let a bucket of water sit overnight and then use it. The chlorine gets out of the water by then. That's how I used to change water in my aquariums. I never used the products sold.

I've kept fish all my life. The chlorine remover usually removes chloramines also. If it's good enough for the sensitive gills of a fish it's good enough for plants!! That's my opinion for what it's worth!!!

The advice to let water sit so the chlorine can evaporate comes from a time when most municipalities used a form of chlorination that can evaporate. Now chlorination is more likely to be a form that can not evaporate. Fluoride and lime can not evaporate, and cause problems for so many plants. Catching rain water is always the best, with nothing in it to remove (unless you live where the air is foul, in which case you have bigger problems than how to water a Bromeliad.) Distilled water, or that collected from a dehumidifier, or dripping from an A/C would be other sources of water with nothing added.

The common practice of keeping Bromeliad cups filled with water is no longer recommended for potted Bromeliads. When potted, the roots in the soil supply all the water that the plant needs. Keeping water - even plain water - in the cups can cause the leaves that make up the cup to rot.

Chlorine used in water supplies is so dilute that it is not a problem for any plants. Chlorinated pool water is much more concentrated and can damage plants.

Hard water is a much more common problem for plants. If your tap water is hard, use filtered or distilled or rainwater.

I keep the cups of mine filled, and have for years for several kinds of Broms, but they may or may not be the same kind for which advice is being sought. My climate is totally different from that of Oregon also, so specific advice may or may not be relevant for unknown Broms in Oregon. To offer more specific anecdotes, I would wait to learn the species in question, or at least the genus, and more about the conditions. Bromeliaceae has a lot of various genera.
