Your photos are improving, Della!

I particularly like this one:
Thumb of 2018-06-02/dellac/9dff15-lb

It seems as though at the slightest breeze the leaf will detach and gently fall to the ground.

I don't think the angle quite works as well on the second photo of the leaves you have.

Another comment I have is regarding this photo:

I think you have the balance of detail right, but the placement of the key flower doesn't quite seem right. Part of me wants to move it slightly to the left and up.

Thanks Joshua! I really appreciate your comments.

It's funny with the maple leaf pics, I preferred the second one, so I'm fascinated to hear your preference, and reason. I was trying to get four elements of the maple together in a good composition,;the mature bark, the young bark, twigs and leaves... but I almost deleted all the pics I took because I felt the twigs distracted too much. Nice to have another perspective! Thumbs up

I'm going to try re-framing the Alyssum.

Like this, Joshua?

It sort of felt 'right' to me when I got to that point.

I had another suggestion to frame out the white one to the far right, so tried that as well:

But then I felt like something was missing! Hilarious!

Yes, like that! The feeling 'right' is why we have the rule of thirds. Quick Google gives this result:

https://digital-photography-sc...
Studies have shown that when viewing images that people's eyes usually go to one of the intersection points most naturally rather than the center of the shot – using the rule of thirds works with this natural way of viewing an image rather than working against it.

Yay! Hurray!

Thanks for sharing the rule of thirds! Thumbs up
