Need some guidance. This perennial must be pretty hearty - every year something eats away its leaves, and every year it comes back. Makes for an ugly presentation though. Can anyone advise what to use to prevent? Thank you!!

The plant has caterpillars, I can see caterpillar poop and actual caterpillars in the picture. You can use Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki, which is a biological control, or you can spray the caterpillars with insecticidal soap - or go over the plant and hand-pick them, either squishing them (wearing gloves) or dropping them into a bucket of soapy water.
