I'm helping a friend find the names of two of her plants. The purple columbine has light green tips on the petals when they first bloom--any ideas? The green plant has interesting leaves and I would like to find out what it is so that I can get one.

The first one is a columbine... Number two might be an anemone of some kind... post a pic when it blooms.

Sorry... went back and read your post... you were looking for the name of the columbine... I have columbines like the one posted, but... they've crossed and recrossed with other types over the years... no way to say what varieties they have become.

Maybe Aquilegia vulgaris?
