Tar and Feather...It had a scape on it with buds when I purchased it back on April 7th 2017. All the buds aborted and I saw no blooms that year. The plant has progressed to become a very nice healthy looking plant. The blooms are wonderful, the scapes are thick and stout, and the plant seems to be fairly rust resistant in my garden compared to most. It has actually grown to be one of many favorites right now. The large bloom just brightens up the garden and really grabs the attention.
There were no blooms on it this morning, but here are some photos of the plant and how it looks and a photo of the bloom taken earlier in the year. The scapes have gotten taller and the blooms have actually grown to be prettier as the weather has warmed up.
May bloom:
There are four rebloom scapes on this little clump now. You can see two taller scapes and there are two shorter scapes. I am not sure if you would call this the third set of scapes the plant has sent up or the third and fourth set being it looks like they developed at different times. Anyhow, I really like this plant so far, and if get better and continues on like this I will definitely want it to stay in the garden. It also has a nice large proliferation growing on it as an extra bonus.
