I have this giant plant growing in my front garden bed. I've torn it out except for one stalk because I got distracted before I was finished. It is now up to the roof on my ranch house. I'm thinking that it might be a giant ragweed. I plan to tear the rest of it out when it stops raining at the end of the week. I would love for it to be something other than ragweed because it is growing beautifully. The pictures are from various stages in its growth. There are no blooms on it yet.

There is something very similar growing in our pastures - tall and vigorous like your plant.

The difference between Ambrosia and Artemisia is their stems and their smell. Almost all Artemisia are incredibly aromatic.

My look-alike plant does have pleasantly aromatic leaves, but I can't exactly place the fragrance. The stems are square.

@porkpal, your look alike has opposite stems. Artemisia is alternate. Those lobes are too large for common ragweed as well.

Okay. Sweet Annie it is. I am going to wait to see if it blooms yellow just to be sure. Thank you everyone.
