Now is the time to look for sales at local nurseries...

I was at Lowes yesterday and they had a huge selection of highly discounted plants. I bought several:

Clematis 'Hania', Clematis 'Pink Champagne', Cornus alba Neon Burst™ 'ByBoughen', Cephalanthus occidentalis Fiber Optics 'Bailoptics', Hibiscus moscheutos 'Luna Pink Swirl', Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Marlin'

The Hardy Hibiscus was $3, the rose of Sharon (2.5 gal pot) was $10 and the rest were only $5 ea. Several were originally priced at $35. All were in good shape. Total spend was $33.

Frank, you got a good deal. I used to always look at the clearance area of Lowes near me ( 30 miles away) last couple of years all they seem to put out is past dead. But the best deal I ever got from it was a couple of Clematis, and that was two years ago. As of date they are the most prolific and best growing ones I have out of About 8 different ones. Some that cost over 35.00 each. These were 3.00. Just luck I guess.

I am about 20 miles from Adrian Lowes and Ann Arbor Lowes.

Adrian Lowes always has better plants on clearance. I believe it depends on the store manager.

Went to Adrian a couple of days ago an found these hydrangeas at $5 each (originally $25). Also, I was in Ann Arbor this past week so I thought I would check out the AA Lowes. Nothing worth having. The plants they did have seemed underwatered.

Lowes started their annual markdown of most all plants.

Last Friday most everything was 25% off.

Prices will soon go to 50% off, and then what little is left will go for 75% off.

Of course, seasonal items such as potted mums are not included:)

But who wants mums after fall anyway?

Down here mums will often return in the spring and bloom again.

My Lowes is currently at 50% off nursery stock.

I believe it will go to 75% off shortly.

My Lowes is covered in Mums! I don't like Mums because the blooms get ugly so fast.
They ran out of most sale stuff in August.
