Also called Dappled Willow.

When my daughter and I purchased a flat of these quite a few years ago, they were said to grow 3' to 5' tall and wide.

Well, here it is. I can't even begin to guess how tall it is, or how wide. Note the birdhouse shows it's relative size.

OMG, that's huge! And gorgeous too! I had one of those at my last garden, don't know why it didn't get moved here. You've just reminded me I need to fix that! I love how the new growth as a pink tinge- it's beautiful with pink bulb blooms.

They supposedly do good in shade too. Any experience with that? I lost the one I had in last years heat/lack of rain.

The one I had in my last garden was in partial shade, well, mostly shade now that I think on it. It may have received a couple of hours of direct sun at the most, and it was very happy.

I have a couple in part shade too. They seem to do better there.

They are! So leave room. And honestly keeping the shrub pruned back would not work unless you're going to keep it pruned really tiny.

Any major problems (pests, diseases) with the Dappled Nishiki Willow? I have a new one planted in a very shady location ... 85% shade, I'd say. I want to move it if that location will cause problems down the road.

I have had no pests or disease at all. Mine are in part shade. I don't know if it will get as much pink on it in that much shade, though.
