very nice story Sharon... always nice to hear the old methods remembered and passed along... lots of folks have never had someone to let them know of the old ways...
One of the things I would love about planting at night,, in the full moon .. was digging in the dirt in AL .. and seeing the glow worms sparkle in the soil as I turned it over to plant.. it was magical.. and spritual.. and strength building.. there was an old song about the glow worms... I remember hearing.. maybe I can find it ...

OOH... here is the Mills Brothers singing it in '57... the song goes back on broadway in 1907 and translated from the German to get there then...
seems it was more lightning bugs flying in the song.. but as larvae in the soil where I'd see them... they glow when disturbed then also.. as worms
