Thread OP

Hi, we found this pest today just eating our tomato's. can you identify what this is? Is it a bike? We trapped a handful of bikes earlier this year, but this guy is much bigger than them.

He (and his friends?) has eaten through nearly all of our vegetables in two large planter boxers. We trapped and killed four voles that had burrowed in the boxes, so this guy must be living elsewhere.

Any help appreciated!

Welcome!

From the size and length of the tail my guess is rat. Voles have short tails.

Not to mention the size of that thing!!! There's no way a vole would be that big....maybe a chinchilla?? LOL!

Voles are about the size of a decent sized mouse.

What was it actually? A rodent or something else? A few days ago, we witnessed the same size of rodents in our farm. They were in numbers. We tried out some DIY's like:

- Placed some firm cages all around

- Sprinkled some coffee ground around

These solutions gave us temporary relief. We have to consult the pest control Rodents Roseville CA (www.rosevillecapestcontrol.com/rodent-control) professional as the situation was going out of control and rodents were destroying our plants. The experts applied some effective solutions and also the long-lasting one.

That was my thought, too. I did not see a tail, but if it has a pretty long tail, I would say it is definitely a rat. Rats are unwanted vermin, but they are nevertheless very intelligent animals. I would use traps before I used poison. You are asking for all sorts of problems if you use poison. Do not do it.
