Thread OP

Hi there,

I am wondering what others use for their Hoya potting medium.

My local store uses a mixture of coconut coir, fir bark, sphagnum and peat moss.

I read online that some add dolomitic lime to their mix as well. While I do have lime, I wouldn't even know how much to add to my potting mixture.

I want my newly grown cuttings to have an appropriate potting mix to go into, so any input is appreciated!

They love a loose, well draining mix.
I use soil, perlite, some orchid bark.

Depends on what hoya it is. If it is a succulent hoya, I use combination of orchid bark mix, clay rocks and some cacti soil.

My other Hoya, Hoya shooting star, likes a much moisture holding media, so I use regular potting soil, but I still add some pumice for better drainage.

Also I just use smaller containers, and they can stay there for years, provided there is good drainage.

Depending on the hoya and where you live, some can also be mounted on a slab or grown in sphagnum moss basket.
