Can you cut the head off of a long stem to restart it? It's healthy but stem is now about 6 inches and ugly. Thanks, Karen

Yes, that will work. Let it dry and callous before you replant the cutting. If it has a long stem, it's etiolated because of insufficient light. If it's inside, can you put it closer to a good bright window? Outside, I keep them in mostly shade because mine burn easily in too much sun.

Thank you for the information. Figured that was what I needed to do but since its a nice big variegated aloe brevifolia I was afraid to just do it without asking

ok, I beheaded it as soon as I got your answer and put it in a glass jar with only very slightly damp potting mix. Only dribbled a small amount of water into it a couple times. Checked it yesterday, roots were about 5 inches so transplanted it. Thanks so much for the info
