I think I have been growing this one since I got involved with this addiction, I mean hobby, since 1998. It is hardy in my zone 5 garden. It was one of the first ones I used in my hybridization efforts. I still grow one of the seedlings from it. The color is consistent regardless of the MD clay or Upstate NY soil. Having move it several times, it is presently growing in a neglected part of the garden and seems be taking everything in stride. It tends to bloom early for me.

An early bloomer, it is very reliable. And when established, there is usually some late rebloom as well. Not a large flower (about 5"), but the color is fetching for a color range that usually gets a walk-by. Good Grower. Taken for granted after all these years.

It was my first bloom this year. I ended up with two small clumps of it and was nicely surprised by the blooms. The name does describe it well. "Pure and Simple"- good color, opens nicely. At the end of its first year, the fans were much larger than I anticipated, so I imagine next year's blooms will be bigger and more plentiful. I recall scapes just above the foliage and blooms about 4"- maybe 6-8 per scape.
The first seed pod set this year (selfed) Hilarious! Think I harvested three or four seeds.

I had this one in my garden for years making it hardy for my zone. I always enjoyed the medium sized blooms, as time went along it was replaced with another daylily for a change in the garden.

I planted Pure and Simple last spring. It started blooming a few weeks later and just kept going. It even bloomed through the first few snow falls I had. I can't wait to see how this plant performs once she settles in.

This is one of the earliest to bloom in my garden and does give me some rebloom, not something that happens often for me in zone 5. At one time I sold all of it except for a tiny fan and now it has turned into a good sized clump again and I'm glad I saved a little of it.

I bought Pure and Simple in the spring of 2021. I was attracted to the look of the bloom in pictures--kind of like a smaller Orange Velvet.

The plant struggled here during its first season, and by the fall it had developed rust. I potted it up to nurse it along, and the next May I was rewarded with some blooms. Unfortunately the plant consistently showed rust, so I found it a new home up north. I don't recommend this one for growers in the rust belt.
