So nice to see these beautiful blooms now, when we in US are entering the autumn. I especially like that Open Your Eyes iris. I just planted 8 new iris in my border this morning!

Hi Annie,
I love logging on garden.org and checking out everyone's photos when it's autumn and winter here, so I am trying to repay the favour. My season is just beginning and I will have more photos to post over the next couple of months Green Grin!

Melbourne. What is your overall climate like? it must not be too different from mine in southern Pennsylvania, because you seem to grow the same sorts of things. Ours is 4 seasons, winter lows can get well below freezing with snow, summer highs can get....pretty high with high humidity.

Melbourne's weather is hot in summer and mild in winter. I don't recall it ever getting to freezing but we usually get close to it. We get a few days over 40 celcius/100 fahrenheit in summer. I think our rainfall is low. We seem to go through cycles of drought and this year is a bad one for Australian farmers.

Sounds very similar to us, except we get colder in winter and usually (although not so much lately, with climate change) have snow. This year has been unusually, record-setting wet for us. We did not have our normal 4-6 week dry spell July/August. I guess we are all trying to adapt to the changing climate; when I was a teenager in the 1970s, the norm was deep snow from about end of November to sometimes April, now we see very very little. I truly miss those icy cold, blue skies days and air so cold it hurts to breathe nights, with everything snow covered. Wonder if we will ever see them again?

Thanks Della. Smiling I hope you can get it in Tasmania. It is a beautiful colour.
