'African Grape' is a evergreen tetraploid introduced in 1991 by Munson-R.W..

It has earned the following AHS awards:
Honorable Mention: 2000
JC: 1993

I have a question all three images seems like different plants, especially Charlemagne's can they be that different for one plant?

Marcia they can. Especially trying to capture the purple of African Grape, Treeclimber above has the true essence of it. It's hard with a camera that turns purple colors red. My own photo of it has red tones.

Charlemagne's picture appears to be an early season bloom, taken when the nights were cool.

Thanks for the info. I have seen the color change when I have taken pics of mine but I hadn't really noticed the early blooms being that different on my own plants. Something to check out more next season.
