Hi everybody. Just wanted to let you know we lost our home in the massive Camp Fire in Paradise, CA on Thursday. We won't be able to go in to see the damage for ourselves for a few weeks. We did get some photos thanks to my husband's coworker who was somehow able to get in to asses our home and his. Most of my roses are still ok from what he said, but they probably won't survive til we can get there. It's been a horrific experience. My son and I had to drive out past flames and burning homes on our way down to Chico. We thought we were going to die. We didn't get much out, but got the 4 cats and the dog. Had to leave the chickens. I'm so sad about that. Will try to keep you updated. I have sooooo many rare roses. It just sickens me that they may all be permanently lost.

Beth,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. As horrifying as it was, I'm glad you (and your son, and your fur babies) are safe. It is gut-wrenching of thinking of the possibility of losing your chickens and rare roses, and no words of comfort, but only time, will help you heal. Hang in there. Thanks for the update.

Beth, I am so sorry for the terrible losses you have had. Here in Australia we are sending as many firefighters as we can spare to allow your local ones time to rest. I hope there are a few things you can salvage from the destruction, especially the rare roses that were so special. My thoughts are with you. Lola.

Beth, I am glad you and your family and pets are safe. I am so sorry for the loss of your home and particularly your chickens. I know how fond you were of them. On the other site, Jackie thinks the roots of your roses may have survived, so if they are own root, they may be ok. I hope so. It would be good to be able to salvage something.
I read a post from you recently, where you said you and your DH were finally able to begin getting on top of things. This is indeed a bitter blow.

Kind thoughts heading your way. So sorry for your loss.

Beth, I'm so very sorry to read that your home is gone. I've been worried and hoping you, your husband, and your pets were able to evacuate in time. Words seem so inadequate in the face of the incredible loss you've suffered. I'm sincerely sorry about your home, chickens, and roses, but very thankful that you both escaped with your lives. My heart goes out to you. Lisa

Oh, Beth -- I'm so sorry. I was hoping that somehow your home was among those spared from the fire.

The whole thing breaks my heart. I can't find the words to say more.

Beth, my heart is overwhelmed with sadness for you family and your entire town. Such loss.
We are so relieved that you are safe and I am believing along with your rose family that your roses will not only survive but thrive .

Terrible, terrible news....I've been so worried about everyone over there, never dreaming that 'one of our own' from here would lose everything. We have evacuated before in SoCal and it was an awful experience, yet were spared the heartbreak that you are going through....I wish I had help to offer, I don't other than to ask that any strength and grace I may have coming to me, be given to you.....
I could be wrong...

Beth, I hope you're insured, but if not, we have something called GoFundMe. Do you have it in the US, or something similar? I'm sure your many friends here, and on the other site would love to be able to help out. Trish

I don't follow the rose threads, but I have enjoyed seeing your beautiful rose photos in the database. I hope you have many roses on their own roots that can recover, and good insurance. Group hug
