Hi there,

Second post here, thanks for the support last time. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get started here in Sacramento. I'd like to get a winter garden going, yet winter is quick upon me. Are there resources/references for what to plant/when and what to do with the soil before you do? I've attempted three summer gardens with zero soil maintenance, so I'm sure I have some work to do. I'd like to start composting, too - the whole 9 yards, really. Just not too sure where/how to start.

Thanks for any beginning-gardening tips!

Thanks folks! I was wondering if I needed to do much/anything specific with the soil before I start any seeds. I've read about finding out pH and such - if I've never done that, should that happen before I get busy?
