Okay, the plumie I planted a couple years ago (this thread: The thread "What do I need to know to put a plumeria in the ground?" in Plumeria forum) is doing pretty well! Unfortunately one of the branches has grown over to half block our door and I'd like to prune it back. The tree has dropped most of its leaves and is probably dormant for the remainder of the season, so I think now's the time to do it....although I've seen some advice that I should wait until it's nearly springtime. Would there be a problem if I cut it now?

The other question is where I should cut it. I'm probably going to remove the entire branch that's currently propped up by that wooden frame, but I'm wondering if it's better to cut just above a branching point, just below a branching point, or somewhere in the middle.

This is not the time to cut. I would wait until the plant is waking up. I'm not sure what time of year that would be for you, but the tips will start to glisten when they start to break dormancy, so look for that.
As to where: do you want re-growth there or not? If you want new branches there, you need to leave about 6 inches of the branch. If you prefer it doesn't grow back, cut flush with the stem.
Indeed a nice specimen!

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, I ended up cutting it in December, so it's entirely possible the cuttings won't take. Either way, the branch is now out of the way of the door, which was the main point. I'm also starting to learn how to prune citrus and mango (which I have elsewhere in the garden) and that's inspiring me to take more of an interest in my plumies. I'll be scouring the forum here for advice on maintenance pruning. Smiling
