I grow all of mine in my greenhouse stream. They are rooted in the muck in the bottom. I got them all from Petco in those little plastic boxes...they were 'aquarium and terrarium' plants that were half dead so were 50 cents each. Now after several years they are 4-5 ft tall

Wow. Some people think of lucky bamboo as this chep throwaway plant, but that's because they don't let it grow up. That has to look stunning in the greenhouse.

These are all kind of different ones. There are some stripes ones, some plain green ones. I wasn't sure they would work as emerged aquatics but they did. I have grown many many things barefoot into my stream and pond...dieffenbachia, aglaonema, costus ginger, hoffmania, alocasia odora, anthurium obake, Marantas....they all rooted in and are growing pretty fantastically. People who see them growing in water seem confused LOL. I found out years ago that Hedychiums (butterfly gingers) can be used as pond plants.

Excitement! Such a small piece. No stems have failed to take root for me after being stuck in a pot.

Moving water is a different venue than the stagnant water of jar, bottle, or vase. So many great pics over the years of folks propagating in an aquarium, with a bubbler oxygenating the water.

This is variegated "lucky bamboo." Stems growing well in a former wall light sconce. Started by just sticking them in there after filling the sconce with soil.

I grow several green and variegated long stemmed dracaena like this in my greenhouse stream. They LOVE it. I built a 20 foot stream years ago with a small still pool at one end. I threw all sorts of stuff in there...Anubias species, spathiphyllum, arrowhead, and a BUNCH of different dracaenas. They all just took off. Since then, I have thrown rescue plants like dieffenbachia and aglaonema from the Lowes deader rack in barefoot, cuttings of Hoffmania that I accidentally broke, Costus gingers...the main purpose of the stream and the separate pond is to evaporate air and create higher humidity in the winter. Some nearby palms sent out roots that punched holes in the liner years ago, so I keep a hose on steady drip and the water is constantly replenished. Here are a few photos of the stream. All these are growing basically as emersed aquatics

Other that stuff I just toss into the pond or stream, I never root anything in water. Its just not my way LOL

@purpleinopp I lost all but 3 of my white variegated and my 3 yellow variegated. They are doing well and getting really tall. I'm afraid to put them in bigger pots because that is how I screwed up last time.
