I have a lucky bamboo and it had been doing very well (with slow growth) until I watered it (when it was dry) and I put it indirect sun. When I brought it back into my house, it seemed totally fine until two days later, these brown spots showed up. I've had this plant for three years now and I'm worried something may happen to it. Is there something wrong that I did or am doing wrong?

Hi Grill,
I wouldn't worry about it, except.. you've had this plant for 3 years and only five leaves? What was it when you got it? I think it could be a lot happier. Better light, smaller pot?

All the leaves are getting more and more yellow. I woke up to it today even unhappier than before. Do you think it's getting too much light? Do they like a more shadier place with less light?

My guess would be, too soggy amd hasn't had enough light in the past.
I've had these for years, tough as nails. Mine have grown extra stems and up to over 4 feet tall before I cut them back.

Hmm ok. Thank you for your response! I'll try to give it more light. But the watering I only do when it gets really dry...So I'm not entirely sure it has too much water.

Sorry, dear, can't tell you much else by looking at a picture.
If that was mine I would pull it out of the pot and see what the soil looks like. These aren't drama queens like peace lilies that wilt when dry and perk when watered.

Arghโฆsometimes I wish I could tell the problem right then and there. All I know is that it definitely doesn't look like yours. I'll try to repot it and relocate it in a different spot. I think that's all I can do right now

Whenever you can, use distilled water, or catch some rain, and flush the soil until a lot of water flows out of the drain holes. Dracaenas are sensitive to fluoride. Are you able to add a pic from the side of the whole plant with pot?

That's a bummer, so sorry. Thanks for letting us know. Better luck next time!
I have that same one and it has been much less than vigorous. Still just limping along after at least a dozen years. Thought it was dead a few years ago but it has grown a few leaves but doesn't act like other Dracaenas that I have.

I finally euthanized a different Dracaena, a Warneckii. I've given it several chances to rebound, but it continued to have mystery brown edges and yellowing. I felt sure it was systemic, reappearing with any stress. I know I can get a nice new healthy one almost any time I would want.
