Hello all! I've got this large bare space at the front of my house and I really want to spruce it up! It gets 6+ hours of morning sun. I'd prefer flowers that don't get taller than about 24 inches since the windows swing outward. Any suggestions/ideas? TIA!

Should be plenty of candidates. When does the sun hit there? What time of day did you take that picture?
Are you planning, say, a 3 foot planting strip all along the house?
Plant it and they will come.

Some of the patio peonies might grow there?
They are shorter varieties.

@sallyg I took this photo at about 3pm. And yes a 3 foot strip sounds about right!

Morning sun and afternoon shade is very nice.
I agree, don't block the windows.
I personally would end up planting the entire foundation area, so I'd have some slightly taller things for the blank walls and for variety.
Siberian iris have been very easy for me, and can add a grassy foliage texture and some height depending on the type. Or maybe actual grasses in clumps- choose carefully.
If you want to plant all along, consider some variety if foliage texture or color, and which perennials bloom during different times, or all summer.
Black and Blue Salvia would be hardy there, (but too tall under windows) blooms all summer into frost, and hummingbirds like it. There are a number of nice Salvias though.
Plant it and they will come.

I can't offer plant suggestions as I am still in "beginner gardener" mode. However, I do like @sallyg's idea of varying the height along the wall. Basically create a flowering frame around the window.

A couple thoughts that came up for me with my efforts:

I notice the nice dog in the photo. Are you concerned about toxicity? My boy will taste plants so I have to keep everything dog-safe. That limits choices - for instance siberian irises are toxic to dogs but sages aren't.

And don't forget about scents. As you can and do open the windows, a nicely fragrant plant might be quite enjoyable - unless you have allergies and then you might want to minimize that aspect.

Also consider what your intentions are with the rest of the yard. If you plan on planting trees then this space could end up in full shade in a few years. If you plan on putting in a walkway next to the flowerbed, you'll want to make sure the plants won't end up blocking the path (my bear's breech did that to me - it looks gorgeous hanging over, but I have to make a detour around it.

@Toedtoes Thanks for the thoughtful response! I'm more worried about my dog peeing on them than him eating them😂. However, I will definitely keep him in mind when choosing which flower I want to plant. As for tall shrubs and trees, I don't think I plan to plant any in the coming years!
